The team had a strong 2015 season winning 33 races in the United States as well as claiming several NRC podiums. The season included rider Fabrizio Von Nacher representing his team, and native country of Mexico, at the 2015 World Championships. One major component of the team that many of the riders appreciate is the variety of riding styles, backgrounds, and experience levels.  The team includes veteran riders that are able to pass down information and advice to riders that may have the raw talent to succeed but not the same mental ability that the older riders possess.

As the 2016 Season gets underway the team is expecting similar if not more success for their riders.  The roster includes Ulises Castillo (MEX), Shawn Daurelio (USA), Efren Flores (USA U23), Robert Freeman (USA U23), Cory Lockwood (USA), Brian McCulloch (USA), Joy McCulloch (USA), Duban Sanchez (COL U23), David Santos (USA), Fabrizio Von Nacher (MEX), Shawn Wayland (USA U23), Eder Frayre (MEX), Alfredo Rodriguez (MEX U23), Innokenty Zavyalov (USA) .

KHS Victory at the finish line

One of the major victories to this point in the season was Ulises Castillo taking first place at the 2016 Redlands Bicycle Classic Criterium Criterion Classic.  The race stayed close the entire time with Ulises giving it his all and taking the victory in a sprint to the finish. Ulises and teammate Eder Frayre, both on the Olympic long list for Mexico, finished 4th and 5th at the Pan American Championship road race in Venezuela, and has raced very well at this year’s.  They also both raced well at the Mexican National Championship Road Race with Eder taking 3rd and Ulises 5th.

One of KHS’ newest riders Innokenty Zavylov also made headlines lately taking with an overall win at the Bicycles Blues & BBQ Omnium. The win came just days after he and fellow rider Duban Sanchez raced the tour of America’s Dairyland in Wisconsin.  Inno was last year’s champion at the Omnium and was excited to give it another effort.  The 3 races, two-day event included a Sunday morning 7-mile road bike time trial, a criterium race that afternoon and a Belgian-style race the following day that had to be cancelled due to heavy rain and lightning.  Thanks to a strong effort in the first two races Inno was positioned in first after the ctriterium race and would stay there with the cancellation of the last day.

Aside from individual race wins and accomplishments Eder Frayre was selected to be the first alternate for the 2016 Olympic games to represent his home country of Mexico.  The Mexican Olympic team is allowed only one rider to participate in the games so although Eder may not participate in the race itself, it is still an incredible honor, and opportunity, for this rider to be representing his entire country.
