Corey Lynn Murphey is a marathon open water swimmer based in Colorado and a Masters swimming coach for Boulder Aquatic Masters. A Missouri native, Corey began swimming before she could walk. She competed through high school before attending Stanford University, where she served as manager for the varsity women’s swimming team.
After stepping away from competition, Corey returned to the water while balancing the demands of doctoral studies in Computer Science. What started as a way to find balance quickly turned into a renewed passion for endurance swimming, with Corey progressing into marathon and ultramarathon-distance events.
In a breakout 2025 season, Corey became the SCAR Swim Challenge Overall Champion, took 1st Female and 3rd Overall at the Horsetooth 10k, and completed the 20-mile Catalina Channel swim in 8 hours and 59 minutes. Looking ahead to 2026, she is preparing for ultra-distance challenges in Lake Titicaca, Lake Tahoe, and Northern Ireland.
To power these ultra-distance swims, Corey relies exclusively on INFINIT. For her Catalina crossing, she loaded the boat with 20 bottles of INFINIT, using GO FAR in Fruit Punch as her primary fuel and :SPEED Caffeine Boost to help her push through the night.
When she isn’t training, coaching, or working on her dissertation, Corey is usually spending time with her three unruly-but-adorable Golden Retrievers.
