Top 10: What the Athletes Want to Know

INFINIT Formulation Specialists, Ryan and Emily, run down the top 10 questions that they receive from customers during consults. First up, "Do I need more than one INFINIT formula?"
Tony DeBoom: Triathlete, Artist, & Designer of INFINIT's Newest Gear

Tony DeBoom: Triathlete, Artist, & Designer of INFINIT's Newest Gear

The DeBoom name is one that is familiar in the endurance community. After Tim DeBoom’s back-to-back wins at Kona in 2001 and 2002, the DeBoom name became synonymous with success in triathlon. Tim’s older brother Tony also competed as a top tier triathlete. Tony had a successful career racing around the world as an age grouper and pro competing in Olympic and full Ironman distance triathlons. During his time racing, Tony finished runner-up behind his brother Tim at Ironman California, won Ironman Utah, and earned a coveted spot as an alternate for the 2000 US Olympic Triathlon Team.
INFINIT for Multisport Nutrition

INFINIT for Multisport Nutrition

As an INFINIT Formulation Specialist, I hear a handful of common questions everyday. One of the biggest sources of confusion for athletes is how to set up their nutrition strategy for a multisport event like triathlon. Many people assume that a single formula should cover them throughout the entire event. But as I’m about to explain, this simply isn’t the case. The best bike nutrition is NOT the best nutrition for your run, and trying to use the same nutrition for both could potentially create issues for you come race day.

Ironman Coeur 'd Alene: Why Everyone Should Ride a Felt

Ironman Coeur 'd Alene: Why Everyone Should Ride a Felt

Ironman Coeur 'd Alene was my 14th full Ironman. I crossed the line in 9 hours and 58 minutes after partaking in one of the toughest Ironman battles of my career. The course topography, the Fahrenheit and fierce competition all stepped up to deliver a worthy engagement. 9 hours and 58 minutes is 35,880 seconds. The peculiar thing about this race is the second that stands out most in my mind is the one right before the starter fired the gun. That fraction of time between the command 'Get Set' and the start. Index finger flexed on the trigger.  I remember feeling immensely happy and excited. I was ready for the pain of racing and more than ever I was hoping for a battle. Well, Amber got what she wanted.

NYC Triathlon: Top 10 Reflections

It is best if, when riding your bike to a triathlon at 4:00am, one of your contact lenses does not fall out. If it does, you’ll be forced to stop, dig out your spare, and put a new lens in. This delay may give a guy with a flyswatter in his shorts the opportunity to strike up a conversation with you on the side of the bike path in the dark. He may then give you his card, which doesn’t feature his name but does include the title “Flyswatter Guy”.
Gran Fondo Hincapie: Recap

Gran Fondo Hincapie: Recap

This past weekend INFINIT Nutrition had the pleasure of sponsoring and attending the Hincapie Gran Fondo just outside Greenville South Carolina.  The event was set in some of the most spectacular riding areas in the country, all highlighted by amazing fall scenery and colors. Add in some pretty special riding partners with the likes of Cadel Evans, George Hincapie, Ted King, the Nation TTT Champions, and the Hincapie Pro Cycling team and it all adds up to a bucket list event.

Karel and I had a dream in 2014 that we would both try to qualify for the 2015 Ironman World Championship at Ironman Wisconsin (2014). We planned out a season of race-cations including St. Croix 70.3 in May, Ironman Austria in June and then Ironman Wisconsin in September and made sure that our training had us peaking with top fitness come IMWI race day.
Hydration 101: The Basics

Hydration 101: The Basics

What is the single biggest issue I see with the age groupers I work with? Let me tell you about an e-mail we received. We received a “complaint” from a customer who said he got dehydrated using his custom INFINIT formulation. First, we very rarely get complaints about the product (if ever). It just does not happen that often and it gets our attention fast. Normally it is from the customer doing too much, we see that over and over. They are drinking their product and happily munching on gels and blocks and wonder why they feel like they ate a bag of nails after 5 hours.
Coaches Corner: A Shift of Focus and Emphasis

Coaches Corner: A Shift of Focus and Emphasis

“Cross Training,” what is it? The simple definition of cross training is, simply put, training in activities that are different than your primary sport.  Physiologically speaking, however..... “Physiological adaptations in response to physical training are highly specific to the nature of the training activity. Furthermore, the more specific the training program is to a given sport or activity, the greater the improvement in performance in that sport or activity.” - J.H. Wilmore, D.L. Costill, W.L. Kenney
